White House Announces Plans to Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse

The White House announced on Tuesday a plan that aimed to fight prescription drug substance abuse. According to SAMHSA (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration), from 2002 and 2009, the number of Americans 12 and older abusing prescription drugs increased by 20%.

The White House's approach is create a wide public health approach to increase awareness of abuse by providing educational materials for physicians and patients.
